sensitivity reads

A sensitivity or authenticity reader reads a manuscript with the sole purpose of identifying components of plots, characters, and language that may misrepresent a marginalized group, promote or further stereotypes, or is offensive. 

I was diagnosed with Tourette Syndrome and Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder at the age of eight. I have written and published two novels and a short story that include characters with these disorders. These disorders are frequently misunderstood, misrepresented, and in some cases, used as jokes in media. It is my hope to increase accurate and positive characters in media.
