As a writer and reader, I love great stories. Ones that are seamless and flawless and make me feel like a character walking alongside those I’m reading about. There are many components to stories - plot, pacing, characters, arcs, and voice, just to name a few. Mastering them can be difficult without an objective opinion. As an editor, I love diving into manuscripts, helping writers strengthen these elements, and improve their overall story.
With a full manuscript critique, I will examine your work through the eyes of a reader, writer, and editor. My focus will be on plot, pacing, character development of all characters, character arcs, and voice. You will be provided with a comprehensive edit letter and one phone call to discuss the letter and/or questions you may have.
Pricing: $.025 per word
*5000 words or fewer $200.00
A follow up review is a second pass on the revision of your manuscript (previously submitted for a full critique). In this critique, I will focus on the areas discussed in the original edit letter and provide you with a new summary edit letter.

*5000 words or fewer $150.00
This is a critique of your query letter, your story’s first impression to agents and editors. I will examine the hook, strength of your story, and the stakes, and provide you with written feedback.
Pricing: $75.00
Agents and editors may request anything from a single query letter to a query letter and the beginning of your manuscript, for example, the first ten or twenty pages. In this submission package, I will examine your query letter and the first twenty pages of your manuscript focusing on the hook, plot, strength of your story, pacing, character, and stakes. I will provide you with written feedback.
Pricing: $250.00
"When I decided to start writing my book on self-care, I didn't have very far to look for an amazing editor. Even as I began my writing journey, Halli gave me good solid writing advice that saved me a lot of wasted time editing and rewriting my own work unnecessarily. Her first suggestion was to write the first draft to the end without looking back at what I had written. "Just write it," she said, "you don't want to waste time working on sections that may not even be in the final book." If it wasn't for her, I would probably still be writing and correcting my first draft instead of being an international published author and speaker. Thank YOU Halli!" - Rita Garnto, Stress-Less Educator, Simple Self-Care Expert, author of Simple Self-Care Saved Me.
"Halli has provided me with invaluable feedback on multiple manuscripts, both middle grade and young adult. She points out both big-picture issues affecting the manuscript as a whole (such as plot and character-arc issues) and on scene-specific issues (too slow, dialogue feels out-of-character). I have come to depend on her for a kind yet truthful perspective on what’s working with my stories and what’s not." - Rebecca J. Allen, author of Showtime Sabotage and Math Test Mischief, published under the pseudonym Verity Weaver.
"Halli’s critiques are always smart and kind, with just the right amount of food for thought. She’s equally deft at catching little mistakes as she is at identifying ways to strengthen big-picture plot and character issues." - Richelle Morgan, young adult author.
